All my outdoor sessions are done about 1.5 hours before sunset - and I finish up at sunset or very soon after. You just can’t replicate that golden light in the middle of the day! And yes...that means in summer we won’t start until 6.30pm and yes I know it’s the kids bed time. If possible, maybe have a quiet afternoon to let the kids have a bit of a rest before the session. A photo shoot is not something that we do every day. Kids can get pretty excited to be able to stay up a bit late ;) So make it special.
Once you have booked in with me I will provide you with some great tips on how to get prepared for your shoot to make it stress-free and enjoyable for your family. Are your kids early risers and you think a sunrise session would be the better option? I am definitely up for a sunrise session if you are. Just let me know.
For an in-home session your house doesn't have to be magazine worthy. It's your home, your most familiar place for your family. You just need to do a quick tidy up, putting toys and clothes away. We will pick a few rooms that provide the best light (no direct sunlight). And trust me, I will always find beautiful light in any home. A space with a window is all we need to create some magical memories.
